ClearByte: Smart Cleaner by Skylake

Privacy Policy

Effective September 3, 2026

Your files stay on your Mac. ClearByte does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. Scanning and cleaning happen locally on your device.

About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Skylake ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use ClearByte: Smart Cleaner for macOS ("ClearByte" or the "App").

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information or usage data through ClearByte. The App does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, crash-reporting, account, or cloud-sync services, and it does not send your scan results to us or to third parties.

Local file access

ClearByte asks you to choose a folder before it scans. macOS grants the App access only after you make that choice. Within the folder you authorize, ClearByte reads file paths and storage metadata, such as allocated file sizes, to calculate reclaimable space and identify supported cleanup categories.

ClearByte does not read the contents of your documents for analysis, upload your files, or create a remote copy of them. Files are changed only when you explicitly choose a cleanup action and confirm permanent deletion where applicable.

Information stored on your Mac

The App stores a small amount of information locally:

Local preferences and folder authorization remain on your Mac until they are changed, reset, or removed with the App and its local data. Temporary scan results are not uploaded to a server.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, ClearByte may show a local macOS notification after a cleanup completes. Notification permission is controlled by macOS, and you can disable cleanup notifications in the App's settings or in System Settings.

Sharing and selling data

We do not sell, rent, disclose, or share personal data from ClearByte because the App does not collect or transmit that data. The App contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Security

ClearByte uses the macOS App Sandbox and Apple's user-selected file access controls. Its access is limited to the folder you authorize and the App's own sandbox container. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection, but ClearByte is designed to minimize access and keep processing on your device.

Children's privacy

ClearByte is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if ClearByte's features or data practices change. We will publish the revised policy with a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated where required by law.
